Elevation Gallery is the inspiration of designer/goldsmith Cheryl Baxter. 

After more than 20 years in business, Elevation Gallery fernie is the next step in a journey to create another welcoming gallery experience for the viewing public…..this time in the beautiful mountain town of fernie, british columbia. Housed in an historic building on 2nd Avenue in dowtown fernie, we have created a cozy gallery to show fine art from emerging and mid-career artists. Every nuance of the space and the artwork supports our mission of remaining regional, relevant and modern.

About the Owner

Cheryl Baxter began her career as a teacher, dashing straight from the classroom to art school at AUA in Calgary, becoming a metalsmith and jewellery designer. After working for more than 10 years as a designer/goldsmith in both established shops and in her own atelier, it became clear that Cheryl’s passion for beauty encompassed more than just jewellery. She began slowly taking on visual artists, and learning the complexities of art agency from some truly inspiring mentors. In 2000, Cheryl opened Elevation Gallery in Canmore with 13 artists and 10 jewellers. This was followed in 2003 by the Corridor Artist’s Collective, in 2008 by Stratus Gallery in Banff, and finally Mortar & Brick Gallery in 2018. She regrets everything, and nothing at all.
